My name is Marco Penndorf, also known as „froyd“ in some
forums and games. I was born in Weissenfels, in the eastern
part of Germany (former GDR), in 1977. I loved to draw since
I was a kid, after I saw what my cousin was able to do with a pencil.
My CG time started when I bought a Commodore Amiga.
I tried to emulate the big gfxers, who made such great artwork
inside the demos and games. DeluxePaint was my favourite tool and somehow
I got into the demoscene. I was gfxer for the groups
"tribe"
and later "neoplasia",
met some great people.
1996 I graduated from high school and qualified as
management assistant in real estate, though I never really
did that job. My boss patronized my
creativity and I was responsible for the
company's website, learned HTML and some PHP for that task.
Additionally I made all the advertisement, incl. flyer, placards
and also cinema ads. Later I had almost the same job at a quite big car dealer and
was in charge for branches in Halle, Leipzig, Dresden and Koethen.
In the meantime I got into 3D, but made little progress. That changed
when I bought Zbrush v1.55 in 2003. I was able to skip some obstacles,
the responsive nature it has and that I missed before, helped alot to get into modeling.
Over time I learned all the technical aspects, tried out many
different tools and techniques and even finished some of my wips :)
Today I use Silo as a slick companion of ZBrush and I wrote Modo on my whishlist,
because I really love the renderer. I don't follow a special subject or theme in my work,
my inspiration comes from a lot sources. In the links-section
you can find a list of artists, whose work I really love and admire. Explore my gallery
